While Christmas may feel like a long time away, the holiday season is approaching a lot faster than we think. December is only 5 months away, and merchants, shoppers, and shipping companies need to start preparing for the holiday rush.

The transport industry refers to the holiday season as Christmas Shipping Season (CSS). This time of year is by far the busiest time for shipping and freight companies. Each year, shipping volumes increase exponentially during this time. It’s important that your customers receive their holiday packages on time. To avoid delays and added stress for your customers and your employees, follow these Christmas preparation tips from Smart Send Couriers.

Know What to Expect

The first step to preparing for the rush of holiday shipments is knowing what to expect. You already know it’s the most hectic time of year, so make sure your staff are properly prepared and trained to handle the large volume of shipments that will be coming their way.

Plan Ahead

To ensure your customers’ packages arrive on time and prevent negative feedback for your company, it’s important that you plan ahead. Plan to send your items out as early as possible. For goods being shipped between the East and West coasts and goods going to North Queensland must be shipped out by the first week of December. Goods being shipped to regional WA should be sent out the last week in November.

Encourage Customers to Order Early

Shipping your goods out as early as possible is the best way to ensure they arrive on time. Encourage your customers to make their purchases as early as possible so you can plan their shipments accordingly. Include a statement on your website or eBay listing explaining the CSS scenario and asking them to make purchases as early as possible.
